I have long found painting and drawing to be an important part of my life, but work and family were more important —a story that may be familiar to many of us. About 5 years ago, I got back into my art a little bit at a time and now regularly complete a new piece of work. In 2016 I was juried into a national exhibit in Atlanta, GA and was thrilled to receive a Merit Award for Excellence for my colored pencil piece, The Mama’s night Out.
I’m am primarily self taught, although I find it amazing what one can learn from other artists as well as YouTube and other social media outlets. I often work in colored pencil but find myself working more in pastel these days and love the vibrancy of color that pastel has. The main thing I hope to achieve in my work, is the sensitivity of the moment. So far I have continued to work with dry media due to irregular job hours and other demands that continue.
I live in Fishers with my husband, Mike, and we have three children (two grown sons and a daughter who is in high school), along with an Airedale terrier and an “All-American” dog.
My favorite place to be, other than my studio, is my back yard on a warm day, or driving the back roads to work observing nature’s color and beauty. On occasion we make our way to Sarasota, FL which is wonderful vacation spot for us with many happy memories and perhaps future pieces of art inspiration.
