Maeve Hernandez Asano
Figurative Artist
Maeve Hernandez Asano
I am a narrative portrait artist who loves to paint and draw figures with a hint of story. While my object is mostly human, I also like to feature figures of all kind, such as animals, dolls, bugs and so on. I occasionally make works that are not portrait; even then, the essence of story-telling is still in there.
Sometimes I receive unique inquiries for commissioned portrait to recreate portraits without exact photograph to replicate from.
I find power in my art to know I can turn not only my imagination but also people’s special memories into a physical form they can see and cherish.
Maeve was born in Shizuoka, Japan in 1989. She has taken art classes as a part of general education in elementary and middle school, however she remains self-taught after that until this day. Maeve migrated to Carmel, IN in 2016 and relocated to Fort Wayne, IN later that year. Her tiny studio sits near downtown Fort Wayne.
